Title: Radio luminosity functions below the detection threshold
Abstract: With the lack of large-area radio surveys deeper than 1 mJy at 1.4 GHz, where radio-quiet sources become more prominent, the dominant source of radio emission from quasars has been debated for decades. We present the radio luminosity function (RLF) of optically selected quasars below 1 mJy, constructed by combining Bayesian fitting stacking technique to objects below the nominal flux limit. We apply the technique to i) simulated data from Square Kilometre Array Design Study Simulated Skies (SKADS)with added random Gaussian noise and ii) 1.4 GHz radio fluxes from Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-cm (FIRST) extracted at the positions of optical quasars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR7) divided into 7 redshift slices.
